2010 Walk
Walking the Dog for a Good CauseThey came in all varieties from large to small and hairy to hairless, but they all came for the same reason - to help animals in need and to celebrate the bond between pets and their people!
It was the 10th Annual Walk to Unite Pets and People which raises funds for the Carver-Scott Humane Society to ease the plight of homeless animals in our community. Nearly 100 registrants raised $10,000 by securing pledges to take a dog walk through Lion's Park in Chaska on May 22. Just to keep the event fair, two cats in strollers showed up to support the event, too.
The skies were grey and the participants got drenched by a sudden thunderstorm, but the spirits were high. They each brought their own story and many were heartwarming examples of the bond between people and their pets. Elvis, the long haired Dachshund, was in the house and he was on hand to greet a Golden Retriever leader dog in training, Toby, a certified therapy dog, and canine buddies of all shapes and sizes. From Kouvaz to greyhounds and poodles to bulldogs, there was much tail wagging and snuggles to be had.
CSHS wishes to thank the many local businesses and friends who supported this event through their monetary donations, food and silent auction items as well as the wonderful volunteers who donated their time to the event.
The Carver-Scott Humane Society (CSHS) supports the community by connecting animals in need with people who care. Contact CSHS at www.carverscotths.org or 952-368-3553.
