Success Stories
Josie first came to CSHS from a call to the police on September 1, 2006, who then contacted Animal Control. A neighbor called to report that a dog was barking in the garage. The police had taken her out of the garage where she had been kept and were giving her a drink when Animal control arrived. The owners of the house had moved out and left Josie locked in with no food or water. No one knows how long she was without food, but she weighted only 27 lbs. the day she was rescued. She was nothing but skin and bones, but what a great personality.
Through Animal Control, Josie was brought into the CSHS foster program. It was through the love of her foster family that Josie was nursed back to health and proper weight. She was featured in the paper and that's where Jan and Rollie Grunts first saw her picture.
Josie now weights 67 lbs. and Jan and Rollie couldn't be happier. She goes to the cabin with them and never leaves their sides. Josie became a Happy Ending story on November 10, 2006 when she found her perfect forever-home. CSHS couldn't be happier, too.
