Volunteer Introduction

Thank you for showing an interest in volunteering for Carver-Scott Humane Society! To help discover the perfect volunteer job please select Fostering or Opportunities from the drop-down menu under “Volunteer” on our website home page or call 952-368-3553, line 4, for more information.

Why volunteer?
  1. Adoption Discount - a one time 50% Pet Adoption Discount after completion of 25+ volunteer hours and/or fostering an animal(s) for CSHS for a total of 3+ months. (All adopters must meet the same adoption requirements set for the general public.)
  2. Recognition – a place to use your strengths and skills and to gain new knowledge.
  3. Satisfaction – knowing you are making a personal contribution to the many homeless animals in our communities.
  4. New Friends – meeting others who share your similar interests.
  5. Events – being able to enjoy the many social activities and events during the year through either participation or support.
How do I get started?

Foster and volunteer applications can be viewed from the Fostering and Opportunities pages. Please download your desired form, fill it out and return the information to our office at:

Carver-Scott Humane Society
P.O. Box 215
Chaska, MN 55318

Or call 952-368-3553 to request that a foster application, volunteer application or youth waiver form be sent to you.

That’s it! That’s all you have to do to start the process! Once your application is received we will contact you by phone or email to discuss Carver-Scott Humane Society’s current needs, your days/times available and answer any questions you might have.  If you are interested in PAD, review our Pet Adoption Day Guidelines - Word | PDF

I’m under 16. Can I help the animals, too?

Yes, but opportunities are limited until our shelter is built. To help with the animals at Pet Adoption Days (PAD) you must be at least 12 years old and everyone under the age of 15 is required to be accompanied by an adult. To be considered for one of these positions just download the Minor Waiver Form located on the Opportunities page, fill it out and return it to our office. A CSHS representative will then follow up with a phone call or email to discuss your opportunities further.

We are a non-profit 501(C)3 organization supported entirely through donations and adoption fees. Your donation helps us save and improve the lives of animals who need help. Make a secure online donation today.
