Carver-Scott Humane Society (CSHS) is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Executive Director reports to the Executive Committee of the Board. The Executive Committee is comprised of the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Board members are elected by the Board of Directors on an annual basis and serve two-year terms, with a three-term limit.
Mandi Wyman, Executive Director. Mandi has lived in Minneapolis for over a decade, and is a native of Detroit, Michigan. She has two rescue animals: a 13-year old tortoiseshell cat named Bailey and an 11-year old grey and white tuxedo cat named Edison. Mandi graduated from the University of Michigan in 2000 with a BA in Corporate Communication/Public Relations, and received her Masters of Nonprofit Management from Hamline University in 2014. Prior to her appointment at CSHS, she held positions at The Salvation Army and the Scott, Carver, Dakota CAP Agency. She is a five-time presenter at the Humane Society of the United States’ International Animal Care Expo, and serves as a board member for the Minneapolis Animal Care & Control Advisory Board.
2018-2019 Board of Directors:
Mandy Malecek. Mandy is a long-time volunteer in the animal rescue community with a soft spot for special-needs animals. She has worked with several local rescue organizations, in a number of leadership and board positions. She, her husband, and her daughter have five dogs, two cats, and seven chickens – all rescues. Their dogs are: Gixxer, a 10-year-old pitbull; Roxy, a 6-year-old Doberman; Guthrie, a 6-year-old Border Collie/Whippet mix; Stewie, a 5-year-old Maltese; and Etta, a 2-year-old pitbull. Their cats are Duchess, a 3-year-old Ragdoll, and Gilroy, a 2-year-old DSH. Mandy works full-time as a Patient Representative for United Hospital and part-time as an obedience trainer for AllBreed Obedience. She also is pursuing a Master of Public and Nonprofit Administration degree.
Brian Ulrich, Treasurer. Brian grew up in Brooklyn Park and is a current resident of Hopkins. He works in project management for Optum Health, and the favorite part of his day is spoiling his rescue dog, Theo. When he isn’t working or walking his dog, Brian serves as Board President of his condo association. He has been an active member of the National Ski Patrol for over 10 years, holding various volunteer leadership positions. He joined the board in December of 2016.
Jeni Super, Secretary. Jeni Super is a resident of Chanhassen where she lives with her husband and daughter. All pet lovers, they are the happy owners of two 6 year old German Shepherds, Jax and Anna and two kitties, 14 year old Merlin and 11 year old Cali. They also foster dogs and puppies. Jeni has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s in Human Resources from St. Mary’s. Jeni works at Hennepin County as an HR Manager.
Dr. Steve Barghusen. Steve is a veterinarian and co-owner of Pet Crossing Animal Hospital & Dental Clinic in Bloomington. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and is a board certified specialist in dog and cat practice. He is the proud owner of a CSHS alumna (Peep the Wonder Dog) as well as a White’s Tree Frog named Gordon. Steve joined the board in May of 2016.
Brian Christiansen. Brian is an attorney with Hellmuth & Johnson, where he specializes in businesses, franchises, and commercial entities. He joined the board in 2017 and has been an active and engaged contributor and currently serves as a member of the Policy Committee, which consists of both staff and board members working collaboratively to update and develop organizational policies and processes.
Vikki Anderson. Vikki has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and is currently a Business Development Executive with The Scoular Company. She has served as a volunteer with The League of Women Voters of Eastern Carver County as well as being the past Environmental Lobbyist for The League of Women Voters MN working on wetlands protection legislation and BWCA protections. Vikki is a resident of Chaska where she lives with her two boys and rescue dog Wilbur. Vikki joined the board in 2017.
Matt Crumpton. Matt is the Vice President, National Accounts for EFS – a WEX Company, specializing in payment processing solutions for transportation related organizations. Matt’s responsibilities include general management, national account sales, and key account management with focus and leadership in new business sales and growth. He has been employed with EFS and WEX since February 2000. Before joining EFS, Matt’s previous employment includes working with J.B. Hunt Transport, based in Lowell, AR., Matt’s 25-year career has been in transportation with focus in fuel, transaction, and payment processing management. Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with emphasis in Transportation and Logistics from the University of Arkansas. He is actively involved in Boy Scouts of America, cycling, various community programs, and cheering on his Razorbacks! Matt, his wife Tracy, and three boys, along with their beautiful Golden Retreiver Lola, reside in Chaska. Matt joined the board in May 2018.
Kristin Kunz. Kristin has a JD from Hamline University School of Law and works for US Bank in Dodd Frank compliance. She has always loved animals and became passionate about animal rescue after adopting her dog, Sherman. Kristin lives in Edina with her husband, Alex, and Sherman. Kristin joined the board in 2018. She also supports CSHS through Rover, by donating her proceeds for dog sitting and walking.
Stacy McDonald. Stacy has spent her entire career in the nonprofit world; currently at Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest, but for over 20 years at Animal Humane Society in the Twin Cities. Stacy left AHS wanting to devote more of her time and energy to her many other passions, such as education, but 9 months was enough of a break. Stacy has a BA in Political Science from the University of Minnesota, and two certificates from the University of St. Thomas in Fundraising and in UST’s Mini-MBA in Nonprofit Management. She names all of her pets after cities and her current household consists of two cats, Raleigh, a medium hair lilac point Siamese mix, and Eugene, a short hair black smoke tabby goblin mix (but the cute and funny kind of evil goblins… like in the Labyrinth). Stacy is excited and proud to be part of CSHS’s Board, especially during a time of growth and progression.
Laura Minette. Laura began her journey in animal welfare fresh out of school with the St Croix Animal Shelter in Afton, doing hands on animal care. 25 years, a little extra knowledge building, some ladder climbing, two big humane society mergers and three organizational name changes later, she finished her tenure in animal welfare with the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley. Acquiring a decade and a half of experience working within a fast paced fundraising and development team as their donor database administrator. Laura made the move from animals to people and is now the database administrator with the development and communications team at Neighborhood House in St Paul. She has also been a dog trainer with AllBreed Obedience in Woodbury for 20 years. She’s had several pets that she has loved and learned from in her life, guinea pigs, rabbits, cats, dogs, most all rescues and one very smart horse, she has also fostered several cats and dogs. Her current companion, Miss “Miley” Wigglebutt CGC, an English Springer Spaniel is 10 years old and together they have explored and enjoyed a decade of playing in obedience, agility and tracking together.
