2017-2018 Board of Directors:
Larry Fasching, President. Larry is a lifelong resident of the Twin Cities area. He has been an animal lover all of his life, and is currently the lucky owner of Kaze (short for Kamikaze, a name which reflects her energy level), a 10 year old puggle who was rescued by CSHS; Cedar, a 3 year old German/Australian Shepherd mix; Murphy, a 4 year old terrier mix rescue, and Sarah and Pasta, two 1 year old cats rescued through CSHS. Larry works in IT for Starkey Hearing Technologies. Larry joined the Board in December, 2011.
Gary Loock., Vice President. Gary is a Minnetonka resident and has been a long-time volunteer with CSHS. He joined the board in 2016 after attending board meetings for several years to support the direction of the organization. Gary has served on the Executive Director Hiring Committee and is also the CSHS Inventory Manager. He is a “Jack of all Trades” who assists with everything from events to building new rooms at our Cat Adoption Center! In addition to his many hats with CSHS, Gary assists with the Chaska Shed, a grassroots collaborative between CSHS and Pet Haven that distributes donated pet food and supplies to rescues throughout Minnesota.
Dave Lies, Treasurer. Dave currently lives in NE Minneapolis with his 13-year old Cocker Spaniel, Bitsy (or ‘the Bitzer’) who he rescued when she was two. He initially joined the Carver-Scott Humane Society when he was living in Shakopee in 2010, serving on the Board of Directors for three years and becoming involved with the Walk Fur Love (past chairperson & committee chair for food & raffle) and Cub brat stand fundraising events. Dave has a Bachelor degree in Accounting from St. Cloud State University and has spent over 25 years in the Accounting & Finance fields.
Jackie Lara, Secretary. Jackie grew up in central Minnesota and has been an avid volunteer since a young age. She and her husband reside in Shakopee and enjoy the strong sense of community in this area. She has a heart for animals and a special interest in keeping pets with their families. Jackie believes our pets help us as much as we help them. She adopted their 2 cats, Beethoven and Marnie, and rescued their guinea pig, Roger. Jackie works at the Scott Carver Dakota CAP Agency. She joined the Board in June 2016.
Mike Turpin. Mike is a software application developer, and he and his wife Sara are cat fosters for CSHS. He currently serves as a board member, as well as on our IT team, where he manages the growing technology and security infrastructure of the organization. As CSHS moves to utilize more technology to improve outreach and help more animals, Mike’s technical background will help guide the board in their decisions.
Brian Ulrich. Brian grew up in Brooklyn Park and is a current resident of Hopkins. He works in project management for Optum Health, and the favorite part of his day is spoiling his rescue dog, Theo. When he isn’t working or walking his dog, Brian serves as Board President of his condo association. She has been animal lover since she was a child and currently has one rescued cat, Mitzy.
