Hi Friends,
What an incredible start to the year! When our team sat down with the Board of Directors to map out our goals for this year, we dreamed big – really big. But wow, what's happened since then has blown us away! Our amazing staff stepped up to the challenge by seeking out new local partnerships and securing more foster homes for our furry friends.
Working hand in hand with our friends at Animeow Control, Minneapolis Animal Care and Control, and Pets Under Police Protection has kept our rescue humming, even during months that are typically quiet. These partnerships have been absolute game-changers in helping us save more furry lives than ever before. Want to hear something amazing? We've seen a whopping 211% jump in cat rescues compared to this time last year! And our dog rescues? Those have skyrocketed by 440%!
None of this would be possible without our incredible fosters and volunteers who open their hearts and homes to these pets while they wait for their forever families. You all are the real MVPs of this story!
When you put together big dreams, dedicated teamwork, and amazing community partners, magic happens – and that's exactly what we're seeing. As we keep pushing forward this year, we're more excited than ever about helping even more pets find their perfect homes. The way our team, board, and local partners work together just keeps getting stronger, and it shows in every wagging tail and purring kitty that finds their way home.
With gratitude, |

A Flight to Safety: Lending a paw to dogs affected by the LA fires |
The recent wildfires in California devastated communities, displacing countless families—including their beloved pets. Already operating at capacity, local shelters found themselves inundated with animals in need. To create space for lost pets who may be reunited with their families, these shelters reached out for help in relocating dogs already in their care.
Thanks to funding from the DoVE Project, 50 dogs will receive a second chance through a lifesaving transport by cargo plane to Minnesota. They contacted Carver Scott Humane Society and several other small rescues in the area to secure placement for the transported dogs. This was a bigger ask than usual for our foster volunteers. With limited time and resources available in California, we received only the most basic details about the incoming dogs—we know they were adult, large-breed mixes, but little else.
For our foster volunteers, this was a leap of faith. But two generous CSHS fosters didn’t hesitate to open their homes and hearts to these unknown pups, knowing they deserved a chance. Thankfully, all 50 dogs have secured placement and will soon begin their journey toward forever homes. The cargo plane was originally scheduled to arrive this Saturday but has been rescheduled to February 22nd - giving us more time to find homes for even more dogs! You can be a part of a fresh start for these dogs and a new chapter of hope by becoming a foster today! |
From Stray to Safe: Teaming up with Animeow Control for Chip's Journey |
|
|
This past January, we welcomed twelve cats into our rescue from our dedicated friends at Animeow Control. This passionate nonprofit works tirelessly to rescue strays and perform trap-neuter-release (TNR) throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding areas, ensuring cats in need receive care—especially during the harsh winter months. |
|
|
Among these rescues was Chip, a chubby-cheeked sweetheart with adorable polydactyl mitten paws. Sadly, like many polydactyl cats without proper care, Chip suffered from an embedded nail, which can be painful and lead to infection. After Animeow Control relieved him of this discomfort, we ensured the rest of his nails were in good shape while he was under anesthesia for his neuter.
Once Chip was ready for adoption, he quickly stole hearts—receiving multiple applications! He has since found his purrfect match and is happily settling into his forever home. |

| We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with Animeow Control and their tireless efforts to help local cats in need. Follow them on Facebook to learn more about their lifesaving work! |

We’re thrilled to announce that Carver Scott Humane Society has been awarded a $21,000 ASPCA National Shelter Grant to expand our ability to perform onsite cat neuters! By handling these procedures in-house with a contracted veterinarian bi-weekly, we will save 82% of our current neuter costs—around $29,000 annually. This cost savings will not only allow us to rescue more animals but also reduce wait times for surgeries, helping cats find their forever homes faster. We look forward to launching this program in the second half of 2025.

Aero is Ready to Be Your Valentine!
Looking for a loyal, loving companion to be your Valentine every day of the year? Meet Aero, a playful, energetic pup who’s ready to steal your heart!
At 1 year and 8 months old, Aero is bursting with personality and loves to show off his impressive moves—whether it's zooming around the yard or strutting his stuff on walks. He’s a great match for an active home, especially one with other dogs to romp around with. And if you have a dog-savvy cat, Aero’s proven he can be a true gentleman after a proper introduction! |
| |
|
Aero's enthusiasm for life means he can be a little jumpy, so he’d do best with older kids who can keep up with his playful spirit. But don’t let his energy fool you—when the fun is over, he’s a top-tier snuggler who loves nothing more than curling up with his favorite people. Plus, with his food motivation and eagerness to please, he’s always ready to learn new tricks (or be bribed with treats). If you’re looking for a best friend who will love you unconditionally—and be the perfect pal for your furry crew—Aero is your guy!
