Slalom Consulting generously donated their services, leading our board and staff on a comprehensive naming process. Slalom and our team explored various possibilities, conducting thorough audience and market testing to ensure the new name aligned with our mission and strategic vision. We chose Sota Saves because it captures our core purpose while giving us the flexibility to grow and expand our impact now and into the future.

Beyond the metrics and testing, leaning into our deep Minnesota roots just felt like the right move. The moment we landed on Sota Saves, everything simply clicked—it felt right in our hearts, honoring where we come from while opening the door for everything we hope to accomplish together.

Our organization will be actively transitioning through August and September, leading up to our official launch on October 1st, 2026.

Because a brand transition involves updating many systems, programs, and materials, you may see some overlap between the CSHS and Sota Saves names during this interim period. We appreciate your patience as we complete this exciting evolution!

We simply outgrew our space. Over the past few years, we did everything possible to make our Chaska location work – converting a reception area into a cattery, stacking supplies from floor to ceiling, and squeezing kennels into every available corner. Despite our best efforts, we were still bursting at the seams. 

This move will give us the room we need to grow, doubling our space to accommodate more animals, host additional meet & greets, and provide much-needed extra storage — it will allow us to:

• Perform in-house spay/neuter surgeries and other veterinary services, allowing us to rescue more animals and reduce long-term expenses.

• Offer low-cost spay/neuter and veterinary services to our rescue partners — addressing a long-unmet need in our region.

• Expand our cat housing capacity, allowing us to rescue and care for even more feline friends.

• House dogs on-site, providing us with flexibility when foster homes are unavailable or they aren’t the best fit for a dog.

• Expand community programs and services that make such a difference for animals and the people who love them. 

• Increase our storage space, enabling us to keep essential supplies on hand to support both animals in our care and pets in the community.

The new facility is located in Hopkins, about 17 miles east of our current location and about 15 minutes from the Twin Cities. We began looking right here in Chaska, but after an extensive search turned up no suitable properties, we broadened our radius.

Hopkins quickly stood out as the right fit — offering the space we need to grow while keeping us conveniently located for our current fosters, volunteers, and supporters. It’s also more centrally located, making it easier for adopters, rescue partners, and community members across the metro to connect with us.

This new location allows us to stay true to our roots while positioning us to serve even more animals and families in the years ahead.

The new facility offers a blank slate – which means we get to design and build it to fit our exact needs. From installing cat condos and dog kennels to equipping the veterinary suite and community spaces, every detail will be tailored to create the best possible environment for our animals and people alike.

Of course, that level of customization takes time. Construction and build-out will occur over the coming months, with the goal of moving in late summer and being fully operational in our new facility by fall 2026.

None of our current programs or services will change and our commitment to our mission remains unwavering.

We will continue serving our communities just as we always have—relying on our vital foster network, hosting adoption events, and maintaining our community partnerships.

Ultimately, this move will allow us to strengthen our operations, expand our reach, and gain the capacity to support even more pets and people in the west metro and beyond. We can't wait to welcome you into our new space soon!

Several years ago, we were gifted a parcel of land through a generous bequest. Earlier this year, we made the thoughtful decision to sell that land, providing the cash reserves needed to jumpstart our move and begin transforming the new space. 

In addition to those reserves, we will be raising funds to support the move and buildout – including everything from kennels and cat condos, to veterinary equipment, and washers and dryers. These funds will come from individual donors, business sponsorships, and grant opportunities that share our vision for growth.
