Are you interested in connecting animals in need with people who care? Carver Scott Humane Society is always looking for enthusiastic, committed volunteers who are passionate about animals and the people who love them. Volunteering with CSHS is a fun and enriching experience. You’ll make a huge difference in the lives of animals while working side-by-side with like-minded people.

At this time, we cannot accommodate temporary volunteer opportunities and large-group volunteer events. We thank you for your interest in supporting CSHS and encourage you to explore the opportunities below.

  • Help match our animals with their perfect homes—all from the comfort of yours!

    This 100% remote role is done via email and requires brief daily check-ins, with total hours averaging around 10 per month, depending on the number of animals. It's a great opportunity to contribute on your own time, while staying engaged every day!

    As an Adoption Advocate, you’ll:

    🐾 Review applications and chat electronically with adopters to ensure great matches
    🐾 Connect approved adopters with foster homes for meet-and-greets
    🐾 Keep accurate records of adoption status and follow-ups through our online database, ShelterLuv, using straightforward, step-by-step processes provided for you.
    🐾 Offer support to the foster and adopter throughout the process
    🐾 Represent CSHS with professionalism and compassion

  • Are you passionate about helping animals find their forever homes and eager to take on a leadership role in making that happen? As the Adoption Advocate Co-Lead, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our mission by guiding and empowering our adoption team, improving processes, and directly impacting the lives of rescued animals. Join us in creating a compassionate community and making a difference, one adoption at a time!

    This flexible, 100% remote role just requires a quick daily email check-in. Some days may only take a few minutes, while others might require up to 1–2 hours, depending on what’s going on. On average, it adds up to about 8–10 hours per month — and you’ll always have a supportive team to back you up!

  • Join our team as an Animal Medical Care Volunteer and make a difference in the lives of rescued animals! You'll work closely with our medical team, providing essential support and hands-on care to animals in need. This is an incredible opportunity to gain valuable experience, connect with compassionate individuals, and contribute to the recovery and well-being of animals looking for their forever homes.

  • Cleaning volunteers help keep our center squeaky clean! Our current cleaning volunteer time is Tuesday afternoon from 12 PM - 2 PM. Our cleaning volunteers are focused solely on cleaning projects and cleaning maintenance around the shelter.

  • Support Carver Scott Humane Society (CSHS) by joining the Marketing & Development Committee!  The Marketing & Development Committee is responsible for working with and supporting the CSHS staff (including Executive Director and Director of Development and Communications) in identifying, cultivating, and securing financial resources through grants and donor relationships, in addition to fundraising campaigns, social media campaigns, and public communications. The committee plays a crucial role in supporting the organization’s mission by developing strategies to engage current and potential donors, building long-term partnerships, and pursuing grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.

  • The Events Committee is responsible for generating ideas for, planning, coordinating, executing, and managing all events related to the organization, such as fundraising events and adoption events. The committee will ensure that each event aligns with the organization’s mission and goals, enhances community involvement, and raises funds to support the animals. Members of the committee will collaborate with CSHS staff, volunteers, and external partners to ensure that all events run smoothly and are properly staffed. Come be a part of the creative fun!

  • Are you a skilled handyperson who loves animals? Our rescue is looking for a reliable volunteer to be on call for various odd jobs and maintenance tasks around our facility. From fixing kennels and minor repairs to helping set up for events, your skills can make a big difference in creating a safe and welcoming space for our rescued animals.

  • Help create a welcoming space for visitors and potential adopters! As an Open Hours Volunteer, you’ll:

    🐾 Greet guests and introduce them to adoptable cats
    🐾 Guide safe and positive interactions between visitors and animals
    🐾 Answer basic questions about cat personalities and care
    🐾 Accept and organize donations with gratitude
    🐾 Keep animal areas clean and comfortable

  • Are you passionate about creating meaningful change through well-crafted policies? Join our Policy Committee and play a key role in shaping the procedures and protocols that drive our animal rescue's success.   • Reception Email Volunteers work remotely to respond to reception email requests and inquiries by logging into a Gmail account. This requires responding to emails/voicemails directly, answering questions, or forwarding the email/voicemail to the appropriate CSHS staff member. View a full volunteer description here.

  • Are you an animal lover with a car and some free time? Help make a difference in the lives of rescued animals by becoming a transport volunteer! We need dedicated volunteers to help transport animals to and from medical appointments, adoption events, foster homes, and more. Your support will ensure that these animals receive the care and opportunities they need to find loving homes. Flexible scheduling available.
